An Exclusive Interview With Christopher P. Smith, President and New Owner of the American Gemological Laboratories (AGL)
On March 2nd of 2009, Collectors Universe (CU) shocked the gemstone industry by pulling out of the arena for the lab testing of colored stones and diamonds just as quickly as they had entered it. Fortunately, both gem-related entities owned by CU — the Gem Certification and Assurance Lab (GCAL) and the American Gemological Laboratories ( AGL)— were re-privatized. Delphine Leblanc of InColor, talked with Chris Smith, the new owner of AGL, to learn his thoughts on this new enterprise.
