Blue Chrysocolla Chalcedony from Peru

In 2012, one dealer procured ‘gem silica’ from Southern Peru in the Arequipa region. While this locale has been known to produce chalcedony of a greenish blue to blue-green color. This blue color was a new find.
The cabochons of blue chrysocolla chalcedony on the left (18.07-22.02 ct) were cut from material recently produced in southern Peru.
